MUSICIAN ROBERT FARNON DIES

The musician and composer Robert Farnon has died at his Guernsey home aged 87. Known in the music world as 'The Governor' he was rated as the world's greatest string writer by Andre Previn.
During his long career he arranged and conducted music for international stars like Gracie Fields, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Vera Lynn and Jose Carreras.
He wrote the scores for more than 40 British and American films. Born in Toronto, Mr Farnon settled in Guernsey with his wife almost 50 years ago.
