Prokofiev?s Violin Concerto No. 2. After the Russian Revolution of 1917 Prokofiev lived in Paris where he initially composed and debuted the violin sonata. Contemplating a return to his homeland, the piece reflects both traditional design as well as joyful revelations from his time abroad. Upon his return to Russia, it was clear that Prokofiev?s music was not congruent with Stalinist ideals. He was forced to publicly sign a confession saying his music was ?bourgeois? and ?formalist.? Jennifer Frautschi. As an award-winning violinist, Frautschi has performed with Philharmonics from Los Angeles to Chicago and was selected by Carnegie Hall for the 2003/2004 Distinctive Debuts series. On the performance of Prokofiev?s Second Violin Concerto, she showcases her extraordinary talent on the Excalibur of violins; a 1722 Antonio Stradivarius.
